Asset Management
KINTO AS AN ASSET MANAGER As an asset manager KINTO, OJSC (Asset Management) is entitled to create and manage unit investment funds and enter into contractual arrangements to manage the assets of corporate investment funds. The Law on Collective Investment Institutions made it impossible for KINTO to be engaged in asset management while being also involved in other investment and securities activities. Thus, KINTO, Asset Management obtained a special “asset management as a sole business” license and "passed" its trading/brokerage functions over to the majority-owned subsidiary, KINTO, Ltd. Within the first year in this new capacity, by September, 2003, KINTO managed three investment funds with different characteristics: a closed-end non-diversified corporate investment fund “Synergy”, an interval diversified unit investment fund “Dostatok”, and a venture investment fund “Unibudinvest”. But our dedication to asset management dates back to 1994. Indeed, we pioneered this service in Ukraine and started our first four privatization investment funds to collect privatization vouchers from individuals throughout Ukraine as a mechanism to acquire stakes in privatized companies. We managed to collect and fully invest through privatization voucher auctions hundreds of thousands of vouchers. Likewise, we also pioneered the open-ended Kinto Budget Fund - the first of its kind to allow individuals to participate in the Ukrainian internal government debt market. In 1995, KINTO was appointed the investment advisor to the first international portfolio investments fund for Ukraine, The New Ukraine Partners, co-managed by Wasserstein Perella Emerging Markets (USA) and European Privatization an Investment Corporation (EPIC) (Austria). This was followed by a number of other funds and managed accounts. Since then we provide premier asset management services to a select group of international and local clients. KINTO CAPABILITIES FOR EXPANSION IN ASSET MANAGEMENT Among numerous regulatory requirements an asset manager must follow in Ukraine, there is a capital adequacy requirement: KINTO, with its UAH 20,000,000 statutory capital, is allowed to manage assets up to UAH 1,000,000,000 in value.
